velvet black sky with its
dusting of stars when painting 'Starlight at Mumbles', I used the same technique here to try and capture the magical lonliness of the Worm. NEW Optimists Image size; 35.5 x 24.5 cms, 14 x 9.75 ins Approx framed size with Mount; 58 x 44 cms. 23 x 17 ins. Price £39.00 (inc p&p) (Limited Edition of 500) This painting was done in the evening whilst watching

Early Morning Overlooking Pobbles Image size; 35.5 x 24.5 cms, 14 x 9.75 ins Approx framed size with Mount; 58 x 44 cms. 23 x 17 ins. Price £42.00 (inc p&p) (Limited Edition of 500) This breathtaking spot sums up the beauty of the

Early Morning Pwll Du Bay Image size; 56 x 22 cms. 22 x 9 ins. Approx Framed size with mount; 75 x 400 cms; 29 x 16 ins. Price £44.00 (inc p&p) (Limited Edition of 500) The most magical and inaccessible of the Gower Bays,
Pwll Du, is for me,
the most difficult of the bays to do justice to in a painting. The storm beach, formed from the remains of quarrying in the eighteenth century, means that few of its features can be seen from the seaward side. The Beaufort Arms Pub, reputedly established in 1644, and the old quarrymen's cottages are now homes but thankfully have not been altered too much. The drawings for this composition were obtained from the top of a tree on the opposite side of the bay, but I have to say, I did the painting from the ground.
End of the Holidays Caswell Image size; 35.5 x 24.5 cms, 14 x 9.75 ins Approx framed size with Mount; 58 x 44 cms. 23 x 17 ins. Price £42.00 (inc p&p) (Limited Edition of 500) This watercolour by the artist RN Banning was painted

Price £42.00 (inc p&p) (Limited Edition of 500) This is how the artist, R N Banning, describes his
work process. "Here
again I have tried to capture the magical Light effects of the Valley leading down to Pwll Du. The light coming from above combines with the light reflected from the sea beyond to produce the most wonderful fairytale atmosphere." First Light Caswell Image size; 56 x 22 cms. 22 x 9 ins. Approx Framed size with mount; 75 x 400 cms; 29 x 16 ins. Price £44.00 (inc p&p) (Limited Edition of 500) This is another out of season watercolour painting,
by the artist R N
Banning, but the best light conditions are in May and September, when there are few people about. Caswell Bay is easily accessible and full of families and children in the summer, but here it is deserted. As with many Gower bays, there is a stream, which flows across the sand at low tide forming bands of water, which reflect the headland above. June Morning Three Cliffs Images sizes 280x460 mm / 11x18.5 inches Approx Framed size, with Mount; 700 x 400 cms; 16 x 27 ins Cost £40.00 (inc p&p) (Limited Edition of 500) One of the Gower's most famous views. I love to
work in pastels, they
give a magical warmth and depth to an image. Last of the Summer Brandy Cove Images sizes 250x560 mm / 10x22 inches Approx Framed size, with mount, 47 x 76 cms; 30 x 18.5 ins. Cost £56.00 (inc p&p) (Limited Edition of 500) Small and intimate, Brandy Cove is a small bay,
west of Caswell where
the amount of sand changes with the state of the tide and the strength of the offshore currents. A couple of hundred yards off shore is a reef where at low water; it is possible to stand on submerged rocks surrounded by water twenty feet deep. Brandy Cove is one of the artist, R N Banning's, favourite bays on Gower. Late Afternoon West Cross Image size; 56 x 22 cms. 22 x 9 ins. Approx Framed size with mount; 75 x 400 cms; 29 x 16 ins. Price £44.00 (inc p&p) (Limited Edition of 500) The artist R N Banning says of this watercolour
overlooking Swansea Bay,
"I saw this lovely evening light from my car and immediately went home for my paints. Fortunately it lasted long enough for me to capture it. The people I had to sketch and finish in the studio." May Morning Rhossili Image size; 56 x 22 cms. 22 x 9 ins. Approx Framed size with mount; 75 x 400 cms; 29 x 16 ins. Price £44.00 (inc p&p) (Limited Edition of 500) I like to paint this area early in the year before
there are any people
about. Although this is the longest beach on the Gower, with the possible exception of the stretch from Bury Holmes to Whitford, and I have never seen it crowded, there is something special about the splendid proportions of the place, which is best appreciated in the absence of people. Here, on a receding tide, the reflections in the wet sand are at their best. Overlooking Caswell Image size; 54 x 28 cms; 21 x 11 ins. Approx. Framed Size with mount; 73 x 49cms; 29 x 20 ins. Price £48.00 (inc p&p) (Limited Edition of 500) This viewpoint is a great spot to give a sense of
the two halves of
Caswell Bay, cut in two as it is by a great promontory of rock, seen through the filter of hazy summer light. This watercolour is by the artist R N Banning who has made his home in Mumbles, a village at the entrance to the Gower Peninsular, South Wales. Oxwich Bay Image size; 35.5 x 24.5 cms, 14 x 9.75 ins Approx framed size with Mount; 58 x 44 cms. 23 x 17 ins. Price £44.00 (inc p&p) New Size Images sizes 456 x 555 mm Approx. Framed size with mount; 476 x 575 cms Price £TBC (inc p&p) (Limited Edition of 500) This print is from an oil painting and is also available
on archival quality canvas I was fortunate enough to catch this magnificent
headland at the
western end of Three Cliffs Bay, on a falling tide when the reflections of the rock structure were caught in the wet sand. However it was not until the following year that I managed to catch the same conditions and paint the scene on canvas in oils using palette knives. Reflections Three Cliffs Image Size; 49 x 28 cms; 19 x 11 ins. Approx Framed size with mount; 69 x 47 cms; 27 x 18 ins. Price £52.00 (inc p&p) Image Size; 392 x 550cms Approx Framed size with mount; 412 x 570 cms Price £TBC (inc p&p) (Limited Edition of 500)
The flood tide at Three Cliffs can make a mirror
of the famous cliffs. Here
I painted the phenomena in oils using palette knives. Spring Morning Rhossili Image size; 35.5 x 24.5 cms, 14 x 9.75 ins Approx framed size with Mount; 58 x 44 cms. 23 x 17 ins. Price £42.00 (inc p&p) (Limited Edition of 500) The westernmost point of the Gower Peninsular, the
Worm is isolated
from the mainland by the tide but can be accessed for about two hours each side of low water. The fields immediately inland are used to grow market garden vegetables and graze sheep. Very often in early spring, the horizon is barely discernable and there is a feeling of warm softness perfect for watercolour painting. In winter it is storm swept and adopts a totally different mood. This watercolour is by the artist R N Banning who has made his home in Mumbles, a village at the entrance to the Gower Peninsular, South Wales. The Path to Pwll Du Image size; 35.5 x 24.5 cms, 14 x 9.75 ins Approx framed size with Mount; 58 x 44 cms. 23 x 17 ins. Price £42.00 (inc p&p) (Limited Edition of 500) The stream, Pennard Pill, runs down the mystical
valley feeding into Pwll
Du Bay. The path was used by smugglers in the eighteenth century and there is a lead mine, with addits on both sides of the stream, reputed to have been initiated by the Romans.
